The vendor sold you “AI in the camera.” You paid. Nobody is using it.

In the Genetec 2025 State of Physical Security survey — 5,600 physical security leaders polled between August and September 2024 — only 10% of end users implemented AI-powered features in 2024. For 2025, 37% plan to. The open question is how many will actually pull it off.[1]

The problem isn’t the camera. It’s the operator. A poorly tuned motion-detection camera throws between 30 and 50 false alerts per day. Multiply by 40 cameras: 1,200 alerts a day — a number no human will read.[3] Past 3 false alarms per camera per day, the operator stops trusting the system.[4][5] The AI you bought to “reduce workload” ends up creating more.

Every time I review a deployment for tv4agent, the metric that matters most isn’t resolution or FPS. It’s how many alerts per day a human operator actually reviews, and how many of those alerts are real. Buying AI without measuring that is buying a smoke detector that goes off with the shower steam.

( practical rule: <3 false/camera/day = trusted SOC; 30+ = perpetual noise )

P.D. How many alerts per camera per day does your system generate today? If the answer is “I don’t know,” today is a good day to start measuring it. Without that number, any new AI you buy is another spend with no return.
