P1 CCTV camera reviews
Unpaid reviews. Datasheet specs, field tests, what fails, what does not.
Honest reviews of CCTV brands (Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Hanwha, Bosch, etc) with datasheet specs, real use cases, and no vendor affiliation. Each review includes price trade-offs, NDAA compliance, and performance in LATAM conditions.

Your integrator is still quoting you 'Bosch cameras.' Bosch stopped making them in July 2025.
Bosch cameras 2026: the brand stopped making them in July 2025. The rebrand is IQSIGHT; engineering is the same. Update your RFP before procurement does.

LG Uplus, SK Shieldus, and KT Telecop are selling you Dahua. They just do it in Korean.
On September 23, South Korea's National Police Agency admitted 1,359 of its CCTV cameras lacked TTA security certification and 385 were Chinese-made — more than half Hikvision. LG Uplus, SK Shieldus, and KT Telecop sell them to enterprises. The FCC has banned them since 2021, and NDAA Section 889 since 2019. When a household-name conglomerate resells Dahua or Hikvision, the risk flows through. Your RFP question is no longer the reseller's brand — it's the OEM that built the SoC inside the box.

Flock said it won't add facial recognition. VIDIZMO is already selling it to police on exported footage. Your CCTV RFP needs to control the pipeline, not the vendor's red line.
On Sep 29, 404 Media documented that VIDIZMO is selling Tennessee police a product that runs facial recognition, behavior prediction, and racial classification on footage exported from Flock Safety cameras. Flock CEO Langley responded 'we will not add facial recognition to our devices'. The editorial question for a Q4 2026 enterprise CCTV RFP: if the vendor's red line is not the architectural boundary, what clauses does your RFP require to control the export pipeline instead?

The CRA's 24-hour clock went live on September 11. If your enterprise camera sells in the EU, it already applies.
On September 11, the EU Cyber Resilience Act's 24-hour vulnerability notification clock went live for manufacturers of 'products with digital elements' sold in the EU — explicitly including network-connected cameras. Three events from September 11-18 together rewrote the architectural question for LATAM enterprise CCTV procurement in Q4 2026: where does the AI model run — inside the vendor's console, or on top of the cameras you already own?

Genetec opened its cloud to four brands. Verkada put an LLM inside its own.
On September 23 Genetec added direct-to-cloud support for Axis, Bosch, Hanwha Q-series and i-PRO. On September 17 Verkada had integrated Claude/ChatGPT/Gemini inside its Command. Your next RFP question is no longer vendor — it's architecture.

Your ALPR vendor doesn't want you to see the runner-up's contract
On Sep 15, Moorhead MN (via Valley News Live, public records request) published the first publicly available head-to-head comparison between a Flock 2025 contract ($29,300/year for 7 Falcon cameras + installation) and an Axon 2026 contract ($136,056.61 over 5 years = ~$27,211/year with maintenance and installation included). The per-year unit-price gap is real but small. The bigger story: the city had to file a public-records request to obtain the competitor's bid — and your next RFP should be able to do the same.

The camera they sold you as a license-plate reader detected 50,200 vehicles in 21 days
Code recovered from a Flock camera by the stegan0gram collective (published by WIRED + 404 Media on Sep 16) shows the on-board software explicitly detects people, not just plates. 50,200 vehicles photographed in 21 days, 1.6M images, 11 person detections across 27,321 video clips. The question your next RFP should already be asking in writing.

Your DC needs 60 fixed cameras. And exactly 2 PTZs.
A modern DC isn't PTZ vs fixed — it's a 95% fixed / 5% PTZ split, with clear per-zone rules. IEC 62676-4 DORI math, 3-5x enterprise PTZ cost, and the 802.3bt PoE++ the PTZ actually needs.
